It really adds to the atmosphere and gives you even more of that Banner Saga feeling. Ending 82The Banner SagaDeveloper: Stoic StudiosPublisher: Versus EvilSteam2014 This game is beautiful, poignant, thoughtful and oozes aesthetic class. All in all, a more than satisfying read with and ending that makes me hope that there will be more to come.īTW If you enjoy listening to music while reading like I do, I recommend listening to the game soundtrack by Austin Wintory.

The author also incorporates the strategic part of the battles in the story and it works really well. "The Gift of Hardrborg" definitely deserves to run under the banner (pun intended) of the game as it also stays true to its tone and imagery. The Banner Saga 3 is a fitting end for the light tactical RPG series, and one that feels less like a sequel and more like the third act of a cohesive whole.

I loved following the development of each character, especially Stefnir, Arnbjorn and Eric (who is also featured in the game btw). Genre (s): Role-Playing, General, Strategy, Turn-Based, Tactics.

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and always wanted to know what happens next. Summary: The Banner Saga is a single player driven Viking saga in which a player’s choice in travel, conversation and combat determines the outcome of her own personal story as well as the survival of an entire civilization. It's not necessary to have played the game in order to enjoy the book but it certainly helps to understand the plot and certain characters/races better. I'm not the most avid reader but since I love the game so much I had to give this a shot and I'm glad I did.
